KIROV DANCER TO PERFORM WITH METROPOLITAN CLASSICAL BALLET

ARLINGTON, TEXAS - Metropolitan Classical Ballet's Artistic Directors, Paul Mejia and Alexander Vetrov are pleased to announce that Anton Korsakov, first soloist with the prestigious Kirov Ballet in St. Petersburg, will perform with the company when it presents its season premiere production at the Nancy Lee and Perry R. Bass Performance Hall in Fort Worth on September 13th at 8:00 PM.

Anton Korsakov, born in St. Petersburg, graduated from the Vaganova Academy and joined the Mariinsky Theatre in 1998. Considered to be one of the most promising young dancers with the Kirov, Mr. Korsakov was a prizewinner of the International Ballet Competition, St. Petersburg in 1998 and Finland in 2001. Known as a dancer in the tradition of Nureyev and Baryshnikov, he combines tremendous strength with great artistic sensibility. He toured the United States with the Kirov in 2002, and he performed with the Kirov at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. in July.

Metropolitan Classical Ballet frequently invites outstanding dancers from Russia and elsewhere to guest in company performances. Mr. Korsakov will partner Olga Pavlova in Le Spectre de la Rose.

Other works in the dynamic mixed repertory program are: Saint-Leon's Markitenka, Mejia's Hamlet and George Balanchine's The Four Temperaments. The Metropolitan Classical Ballet Orchestra under the direction of Ron Spigelman will provide the musical accompaniment.
